Royals snub is no big deal for Cooper.
THE Royal family may have had their doubts, but towering defender Jake Cooper believes he’s proving his Championship pedigree with Millwall’s hungry Lions.
The 22-year-old played his part in helping Millwall earn promotion back to the second tier during a successful loan spell last season, but it didn’t cut any ice at parent club Reading.
Fortunately, the Lions were keen to bring Cooper back to south-east London in the summer and signed him from the Royals for a fee believed to be in the region of £500,000.
The former England Under20 international is now getting regular Championship game time and is keen to show just what Jaap Stam’s Royals passed up.
“The manager at Reading and the club made it obvious what they wanted, and I knew (manager) Neil Harris at Millwall was really interested.
“Once that became clear, I couldn’t wait to get started and be a permanent player at Millwall,” said Berkshireborn Cooper.
