Southern Flavour
Designed by architects Kunal Barve and Mihir Barve of Interface by Kunal Barve, this foyer in an apartment in Mumbai is the embodiment of subtle sophistication. “The client’s brief was clear to incorporate vaastu and a south Indian character to the house. They have a huge affinity for old antiques and south Indian culture and traditions,” says Kunal. The foyer is spilt into two parts, using both sides of the main door. On one side are the Chettinad tiles and a hand drawn kollam (rangoli) and brass elements. On the other, a large wooden Ganesha adds the right vibes. Dramatic glass pendants light up both the spaces.
