Here’s why empathy is one of the most important skills for leaders to practice in their workplace

Empathy is undoubtedly A positive emotion to have and it especially holds value in places where you least expect it. Great leadership comes with a mix of various skills that are needed to create a space that is happy, positive and performance-driven. The need for empathy is seen more since people have been affected by the pandemic and everyone has had their share of struggles mentally, physically or financially. Hence, empathy is something everyone needs right now.

The pandemic left people feeling frustrated and stressed and the way we were conditioned to live our lives was flipped completely. According to a global study conducted by Qualtrics, 42% of people have experienced a decline in their mental health. 67% of people experienced an increase in stress while 57% have increased anxiety, and 54% are emotionally exhausted. 53% of people are unhappy, 50% are irritable, 28% have trouble concentrating, 20% feel sluggish and take longer to finish tasks, 15% have trouble thinking and 12% are challenged to juggle their responsibilities. Shocking, right?
