Offseason about to pick up

After a quiet February, the time is almost here for the Dolphins to start adding pieces to their roster to take the next step

Offseason about to pick up

The first month of the offseason for the Miami Dolphins produced very little in terms of news, particularly with the team declining to make official some hirings on their coaching staff, primarily the one(s) involving the offensive coordinator position.

What we had instead was a lot of speculation, both in terms of what would happen to some of their players (such as Ryan Fitzpatrick, Davon Godchaux, and Xavien Howard) and in terms of the Dolphins’ role in the sagas involving Pro Bowl quarterbacks Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson.

The real fun actually will begin in March with the start of the new league year, which means the start of the free agency signing period.

That, of course, will be followed in late April by the 2021 NFL draft, where the Dolphins once again will play a starring role thanks to their current supply of two first-round picks and two second-round picks.

It’s obviously another important offseason for the Dolphins (though they pretty much all are), who certainly won’t make as many moves as they did last year but have the chance to impact their roster just as much.

What the Dolphins did in the 2020 offseason was fill a lot of holes with a lot of very solid players, some of whom even could end up being elite in due time.

But work remains on this roster.
