Keeping an Illustrious Legacy Alive, while Aligning with Contemporary Sensibilities

Breguet

The name AL Breguet is virtually synonymous with the history of watchmaking and the brand is conscious of its responsibility to its heritage as well its need to reflect the aesthetic nuances of the times. Perhaps no other watch brand balances these two imperatives so finely that one doesn’t even realise where one ends and the other begins. The three Breguet creations featured in this article exemplify this perfectly.

Breguet Classique 7137 And 7337

Embodying and Expressing the Undiluted Essence of Breguet Style

Thanks to its mastery in the art of engine-turning, Breguet has given these two iconic models from its Classique collection a new look. These new models come in rose gold with a silvered gold dial and, on a more contemporary note, in white gold with a gold dial in “Breguet blue” color. An embossed moon on a starry sky adds a new dimension to the moon phase display.

The traditional engine-turning crafted by hand aesthetic finds its full expression in the Classique line, which epitomizes Breguet style at its purest. The exquisite new Classique 7137 and Classique 7337 wristwatches both channel the aesthetic of historic pocket watches created under the direction of AbrahamLouis Breguet and his son. The 7137 draws inspiration from the Perpetuelle No.5 pocket watch, one of the first to feature engine-turning and made in the late eighteenth century. The 7337 traces its horological character back to the early nineteenth century in the form of the quarter-repeating watch No.3833, which was the first to feature off-centre dials, a pathbreaking stylistic innovation, with an hours chapter at 6 o’clock, topped by a moon-phase indicator at 12 o’clock.
