He is one of the rarest actors, not contending to be in the ruthless rat-race. Quite unlike the others, he’s treading his own path. In today’s media-savvy day and age, he only believes in letting his work do the talking. He says his only competition is ‘the Sun’. After having carved a niche for himself in the action department,VIDYUT JAMMWAL is rigorously gearing up for his upcoming releases.Pooja Sharma meets the ‘tough as steel’ actor for a candid conversation.

On a breezy monsoon evening, I meet the actor at a quaint suburban eatery. Dressed in an aureoline yellow tee and casual pants, the actor looks dishy; sporting the out-of-bed look. He orders a cup of black coffee and I settle for a chilled fruit juice. As we place the order, I begin by asking about his choice to stay low-key. “Three years down the line we will be sitting again somewhere, and talking about it. I want to go this way and I like it this way. People tell me to do this and that, and follow a path, because others have. But I do what I want to,” says Vidyut.
Doesn’t this sound like a perilous approach? “Of course, it’s a bit risky. Sometimes you get worried that I am walking my own journey. That happens sometimes, but I’m having fun. If I fail, it will be on my own terms. But I won’t fail,” states the actor who has rejected many plum offers. He refrained from signing films that belonged to genres other than action and even projects from big banners.
Prod him about the same, and he reveals, “Honestly, I wasn’t really happy with the kind of roles I was offered. The bigger producers wanted me to play certain characters, which I didn’t see myself as. So I didn’t get the roles that I wanted to play. When Yaara was offered to me by Tigmanshu Dhulia, who I am a big fan of, and when he came to me, I didn’t hear the script, I just said a yes. Then came Commando 2, which I had to do. I didn’t get good scripts. Every good script was going to everybody else but me. I have a lot of patience in life. I have seen that if you’re patient, everything falls into place. There’s too much work. I’m happy that I was patient. If I had done the movies that were offered to me, and I have seen all of them, those characters haven’t worked. So I think I was right about my decision.”
