The name may have changed, but this Ponca City barbecue restaurant is still a Head above the rest.
FOR THOSE MAKING the drive to Ponca City for some legendary Oklahoma barbecue, a bit of panic sets in when they drive down East Prospect Avenue and find themselves looking at a sign for RibCrib. Nothing against the barbecue chain, but Ponca City has long been home to Head Country Bar-B-Q Sauce and a restaurant run by the Head family, so it’s a bit odd to see the ubiquitous rib eatery just around the corner from Danny’s BBQ Head Quarters. But don’t cry for him, implores owner Danny Head.
“We aren’t scared,” he says, a smile creeping across his face. “After all, I sold them the land.”
