Diana's Security Chief Tells All

He was the trusted security chief in charge of keeping Princess Diana’s confidences – and now he’s revealed all her deep, dark secrets for the very first time.

In an interview to mark the 20-year anniversary of the beloved royal’s death, Dai Davies who was London Metropolitan Police’s Head of Royal Protection for three years from 1995 has spoken about his unique and intimate relationship with Diana.

Speaking exclusively to New Idea, the elite boss who commanded 450 bodyguards assigned to the royal family during his post has given an explosive insight into the princess’ inner world.

As well as revealing her secret romance with an A-list star, Dai also tells of her claims that her former bodyguard lover had been murdered, her plans to move to Australia and how Charles will make sure Wills is never King. Here we expose his most shocking revelations...

WAS HER SECRET BODYGUARD LOVER MURDERED?

When Dai had the top job, Diana told him that she believed her previous protection officer, Barry Mannakee, had been murdered because they’d become too close.

Barry, who was by her side at all public and private events in the early 1980s, was taken off royal duties in 1986 and died a year later when he was a passenger on a motorbike that was hit by a car driven by a teenage girl.

‘Diana was convinced it was murder. She believed it wasn’t an accident,’ Dai tells New Idea.

‘She needed a father figure in her life at that time and Barry was like the father she never had.
