Sherman's Restaurant
Mississippi Magazine
|November-December 2017
When a beloved restaurant changes ownership, especially one that has been in business for 32 years, it tends to make regulars a little nervous.
Now, five years after Allison and Peter Nimrod purchased Sherman’s, it is safe to say that locals are just fine with the new proprietors of one of Greenville’s mainstays.
Sherman’s began serving the Delta in 1947. First as a gas station, then as a grocery store. The deli counter was later added, and in 1985, the full-service restaurant opened. “We’ve added a couple of dishes since 2012, but not much has changed with Sherman’s since we took ownership,” says Allison. Other than sprucing up the décor, the Nimrods allowed Sherman’s menu to remain Sherman’s menu.
