Seasonal Sophistication

After a significant restoration, a glamorous colonial home is decked in holiday finery.

Lea and Cal Easley had their sights set on the stately colonial-style in the Country Club of Jackson community for many years. Having an attraction to older homes with an abundance of character, Lea saw the potential in the structure and knew she was up to the challenge of re-purposing the spaces to create a perfect home for her family of five. After pulling together their talented team—residential designer Michael Thorne and interior designer Dawn Thomas of After Five Designs—Lea and Cal embarked on a year-and-a-half-long renovation that was well worth the wait.

Thorne and Thomas worked together to preserve the home’s character while adding necessary updates for this busy, modern family. Thorne was able to tear down walls and rebuild the layout of the home, and the basement room was enclosed to provide a substantial addition for their three children to enjoy. Thomas fashioned the interiors with a neutral palette highlighted by modern elements and French influences, while also considering the surrounding landscape. “The view is over the top,” she gushes. “The towering trees and view of the golf course are breathtaking, and the entire rear façade of the home showcases the outdoors.”
