June has been the month that my children look forward to every year, as this is when we usually travel to visit my large family in Australia to spend the school holidays.

Making Games More Inclusive And Social

As the pandemic continues to complicate the way we are celebrating our children’s much-needed break, I can relate to what parents with young children and those whose families are based overseas are feeling right now: We miss our loved ones, but we are well aware that their safety is our utmost priority. At the same time, we are struggling to balance our work and family life, as well as finding a me-time to unwind.

It is heartening for me to know that I have a life partner who always has my back and is supportive of my career as CEO of a fast-growing startup (storms.com). However, I do feel that I have a shared responsibility to find solutions that help many people out there who are either stuck at their home or are running out of ideas on how we can keep our children entertained with COVID-19 friendly activities.

I am of the belief that the gaming industry can play a part in addressing this challenge by making games more inclusive and social.

BONDING THROUGH EASY TO PLAY GAMES

Sharing the same hobby as your young children might sound like a utopia, but here’s the reality: there are games out there that can entertain people of all ages. These games are called ‘hypercasual games’.

SO SMALL, SO CUTE. HAIYOOO...

As giant triple-slot GPUs dominate the market, Gigabyte's RTX 5060 OC Low Profile stands out as a rare compact option that delivers full-sized performance. It fits small-form-factor builds, matches larger cards in most games, and sips power - with higher thermals the only real trade-off.

SMALL WRIST, BIG DISPLAY

In my previous review of the Pixel Watch 3, I expounded on why 45mm was the perfect size for Google's smartwatch. Naturally, when the Pixel Watch 4 was announced, Google sent me the 41mm version instead. And guess what? I've grown to love it.

A RETURN TO FORM

After the catastrophe of Battlefield 2042, expectations for EA and DICE's next entry couldn't have been lower. But Battlefield 6 is a grounded, stable, and gloriously chaotic return to form that reminds players why they fell in love with the series in the first place.

CHAOS, BUT FINALLY FUN AGAIN

Borderlands 4 shouldn't have won me over-but it did. Gearbox's latest entry dials back the noise, sharpens the chaos, and rekindles the fun at the series' core, delivering a leaner, faster, surprisingly addictive return to form.

STILL GREAT, BUT SMALL UPGRADES

Apple's new Watch lineup – the Ultra 3, Series 11, and SE 3 – looks exciting at first glance, but most of the upgrades are incremental. For recent owners, it's a year of refinement rather than reinvention.
