Striking the right balance between the client’s desires and their own creativity, P&D Associates create a modern home in Ahmedabad whose minimal aesthetic is lifted by the restrained use of traditional Indian arts and crafts.

“Our client Rohan Patel is an art lover and an admirer of Indian craftsmanship and aesthetics. Anyone who has seen our work will agree that our design sensibilities are similar. Working with a like-minded client was extremely enjoyable,” exclaims interior designer Devang Patel, who along with Pratik Siddhpura, is principal designer of Bharuch-based P&D Associates.

The client’s Ahmedabad bungalow is spread over 5,800 sq ft, with five bedrooms, three sitting areas, a kitchen, library and puja room. He requested a home with a modern, elegant, art-infused design and a calming vibe.

What worked for the designers was the open, airy and well-placed layout of the already existing structure, which made it easy for them to focus on details such as surfaces, textures and bespoke furniture and lighting. Here, I must also tell you that every piece of furniture, accessory and lighting has been customized by the designers,“The client did not want any store-bought pieces in the house. This was a welcome idea as we really love creating our own products and leaving a mark on the spaces we design,” explains Pratik.
