Christmas at Charlotte and Tom Gaisford’s home is lively and convivial. From festive morning drinks and lunch for 18 to their traditional Boxing Day gathering, the long, low building plays host to a steady stream of visitors. ‘We’re too off the beaten track for carol singers and our nearest neighbours are half a mile away,’ says Charlotte, ‘but we always make sure the place is packed with family and friends.’
