Diana Penty, Why She Is Different?

Four years in the film industry but just two films old, Diana Penty is willing to wait it out for the right opportunities.

Before the script of Happy Bhag Jayegi was offered to actor Diana Penty, there were only two Punjabi things she had heard of. “Butter chicken and Patiala Peg,” she laughs. Her knowledge of all things Punjabi language, culture and characteristics ended there. No surprise really, as she is of Parsi and Christian parentage. This film, however, introduced her to more than she was familiar with.

A well-known model in the advertising world, Penty was first introduced to the silver screen when Dinesh Vijan and Saif Ali Khan offered her Cocktail, their home production. She did a credible job and made herself noticed in the two-heroine project, alongside Deepika Padukone, who was then rapidly moving up the popularity charts. As the docile Meera, she was not only appreciated for her efforts, but also considered to be the next big thing in Bollywood.
