The threat of a third wave of Covid-19 notwithstanding, the 73rd National Garment Fair saw enthusiastic exhibitors and organisers take a leap of faith to come together for a successful four-day event. Team Apparel talks to participants across both the venues to know the buzz on the ground.

We asked some buyers what they felt about the hotel format for the 72nd nGF. Here’s what they replied...

Business has started picking up again. After the first and second wave, we have tweaked our business and now have a better managed inventory. I think the tier-2 and tier3 cities have recovered better and faster than the metros. Hopefully, the third wave of Coronavirus does not cause any further disruptions.

BHAVIN SHAH, PAYAL ENTERPRISE

I have been participating regularly in the fair since 2015. On the first day this year, I see hints of fewer visitors coming in compared to the previous years, primarily because of Covid-19. But I think it is our collective efforts that will help the industry inch towards recovery.

ROMIL PODDAR, PODDAR INTERNATIONAL

The planning and management of the show is commendable and we are positive about the footfall at the show. I am confident we will see a better recovery of the industry. As a manufacturer, we have taken multiple steps to combat the disruption caused by the pandemic. We are ambitious about our online sales. We have also ensured that our entire staff is double vaccinated, thus ensuring their safety.
