Many countries are examining how they can use apps in the fight against coronavirus.

Countries such as China, Singapore and Australia are already using tracking apps to follow the spread of the disease. South Korea’s government even used an app to keep infected people from leaving their homes at the height of the crisis.

So how do these apps work and why isn’t everybody equally excited about them?
