Broke Boris Becker - Boom To Bust From Boom

The once-wealthy tennis champ is now bankrupt.

After being crowned Wimbledon champ for the first time at the tender age of 17, a then-unseeded Boris “Boom Boom” Becker went on to win an astounding six Grand Slam titles, be declared world number one and become the fifth-highest court earner in tennis history.

And he raked in an estimated $85 million in prize money and sponsorship deals during the course of his incredible 14-year career, so Boris, 49, is the last person you’d expect to have trouble paying his bills.

But in news that’s left the tennis world reeling, the German champ has declared bankruptcy after appearing in a UK court over a $5.65 million debt.

While the three-time Wimbledon champ declared he easily had the money to repay his outstanding debts, the court found otherwise, saying the star was clearly “burying his head in the sand”.

So how did Boris, who was once worth $110 million, not only become unable to pay his bills, but lose his fortune so quickly?

The answer, those close to Boris say, is simple – women. In 1999, Boris had been married for six years to German-American model Barbara Feltus. They had a young son, Noah, five, and a baby on the way. Then he made a choice that would end his marriage.
