As the majestic Game of Thrones reaches its thrilling last episode, who will claim the iron throne?

Who Will Claim The Iron Throne?

We’ve had the war to end all wars – and that was only midway through the final series of Game of Thrones. Since then we’ve had the climax of two epic love stories, with both Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen and Jaime and Cersei Lannister playing out their own respective tragedies in unforgettable scenes. And all of it done on a monumental scale, the like of which we’ve never seen before.

This week sees the 73rd and final episode of the awe-inspiring fantasy drama and several burning questions remain unresolved – not least the one that has loomed since the first series: who will end up sitting on the Iron Throne?

Not surprisingly, writer and executive producer Bryan Cogman is not about to give anything away, except to say that the final reckoning might not involve another huge battle or gruesome bloodbath.

‘As you saw in The Sopranos [which famously ended with a sudden cut to a black screen], less is more. We want to justify fans’ investment over many years, and hopefully they will not feel cheated. It will end on a great note. This show has always been a unique beast and it has an ending that truly fits the story.’

To add to the secrecy, the cast members unknowingly filmed fake scenes for the finale. John Bradley, who plays Sam Tarly, says that it has caused mass confusion among them as to what might happen.
