Can Britain’s top seeds – Andy Murray and Johanna Konta – make it a double celebration at this year’s Wimbledon?

Britain's Aces

It’s been 83 years since British players clinched both singles titles on the grass courts of Wimbledon. The year was 1934 and the crowds cheered as Fred Perry and Dorothy Round Little lifted their trophies.

Could history repeat itself this year? There is grounds for hope with reigning men’s champion Andy Murray back to defend his title, and Johanna Konta becoming Britain’s first top-10 female to compete since 1984. BBC commentator and British tennis legend Tim Henman hasfaith in both Murray and Konta.

Murray looked unstoppable last year, taking the Wimbledon title, Olympic gold and reaching world number one. However, a bout of shingles has affected his fitness this year, and despite reaching the semifinals of the French Open, he made a shock exit from Queen’s. While that is worrying, he also suffered a first round loss in 2012, before going on to play in his first Wimbledon final.
