Bridging Borders
STARDUST UK EDITION
|March 2017
While the entire nation is raving about Bollywood’s leading ladies making India proud globally, we may have overlooked the efforts and hard-work of our macho man SONU SOOD. He’s bridged the cultural art gap amongst two nations through his performance as an actor and newly, also a producer. The hunk had just landed in Mumbai from Dubai, and despite a busy schedule for the day, he happily accommodated a quick and delightful conversation with Gayatri Nirmal.
What kind of reviews have been pouring in, post Kung-Fu Yoga?
The response is very good. I have been getting calls from China and hopefully, something very exciting will soon come. My director Stanley Tong called me and said that finally, I was the most recognised face in China. One feels nice when the efforts that you’ve made have paid well.
The Indian media welcomed Jackie Chan very warmly here, thanks to you for this recognition. Are you content with the business the film has done in India? Or were you expecting more as a producer?
Kung-Fu Yoga has done far better than the English films. And if you see the last Jackie Chan releases; this film has done much more than that. The release was wider, promotions were pretty high, and Jackie was extremely happy with the response that we got. I’m glad that we struck the right chords.
Since you turned producer, have your perspectives changed while taking up a film as an actor now?
