Has Modi's Countdown Started?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's seemingly reticent outspokenness, however delayed and belated, should set the Indian voter thinking.

Media debates, if an earlier prime ministerial intervention would have stalled anti-Dalit, anti-Muslim attacks over the past two years of his first term in office could continue for decades, yet his current attacks on those Hindutva segments that have been targeting Dalits in the name of 'cow protection' has not gone unnoticed, either. If anything, having entered the political fray rather late, he has been more vocal than most others of the political and/or administrative tribe. He has declared, twice in as many days and in different parts of the country that those that wanted to target Dalits better target him. It's another matter that Modi's `protectionism' of the less-favoured humans around us has not extended, as yet, to the Muslim community.
