Get Out Of Office On Time.. And Other Success Mantras

|December 18, 2016
How do you make time for the other important things in life when work is taking up all your bandwidth? Namrata D’souza and Gia Claudette Fernandes have the answer.
Do you laugh out loud when your friends ask you about your work timings because ... your job is 24/7? You probably had to cancel something else to meet them in the first place. For some, living at this hectic pace is great—it keeps them motivated. For others, however, it causes nothing but stress and sadness. If you fall in the second category, here’s what you can do to strike a healthy balance between work and life.
SWITCH OFF
Agreed, this is easier said than done. However, constantly checking work mails on your phone or coordinating for work over WhatsApp groups can take a toll on your mental health. A research conducted by the Northwestern University, US, has arrived at the conclusion that excessive use of mobile phones is linked with depression. For an hour or so daily, switch your phone off and simply do an activity you love or do nothing. The point is to take a healthy break from technology daily.
MAKE A WEEKDAY PLAN
Signing up for something like a weekday hobby class will spur you to get through your weekly workload quickly so you can be in time for something you look forward to. Plus, it’s just as important to cultivate your creative side as it is to earn a living. A Spanish class on a Wednesday evening or dance class on Friday mornings will give you that much-needed breather and make your work week seem much less daunting.
