John Arrowsmith gives his first impression of this year’s Midlands exhibition at The Fosse.

The 42nd Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition opened on Thursday 17th October at the Warwickshire Events Centre with reasonable weather but a little wet underfoot, which restricted the outside displays somewhat. However, the main exhibition once again displayed a wonderful collection of models and equipment to interest the discerning model engineer and casual visitor alike. Large crowds on Thursday provided a great start to the exhibition, which was followed on Friday by another well attended day with Saturday and Sunday having respectable attendances as well. Some outstanding models in competition were complemented by some excellent display exhibits.
As visitors entered the hall a large 10¼ inch gauge Royal Scot, courtesy of the 10¼ Inch Gauge Society, attracted everyone’s attention (
