Nazeem’s hold on Joy grows stronger as her heart longs for Wade.

Love is blossoming between Wade (Dean John Smith) and Joy (Monique Rockman) but the couple have one big problem: Nazeem Samsodien (Irvine van der Merwe). He and Joy share a history and he’s got a hold on her by putting a roof over her head and filling her purse with money. Nazeem sees Joy as his property and she soon realises that he doesn’t have her best intentions at heart. “Joy knows what Nazeem is capable of,” says Monique, “so she asks Wade to keep their romance a secret.”

“Nazeem does not see him and Joy as a conventional couple, Joy is his property and no one touches his possessions,” says Monique. Nazeem will kill Wade if he sees him as a threat. Remember how in March this year Nazeem smothered lawyer Schalk (Johann Nel) with a pillow after revealing that dead Henry Jacobs is his biological dad?
