Businessman DeWet Basson is surprised when his youngest child Mieke arrives in Hillside.

DeWet (Dirk Stoltz) is a bully who doesn’t hold back, but he is a family man. Blood ties mean everything to him, even though his wife Erika (Corine du Toit) and two kids Shawn (Deánré Reiners) and Nikki (Danielle Retief), had it hard under his iron fist, they are important to DeWet. And while we’ve never heard of his indiscretions, one of them shows up and surprises DeWet.

Mieke (played by newcomer RezeTiana Wessels) is 16 and the youngest of DeWet’s children.“She is the result of an extra-marital affair that DeWet had while he was married to Erika. Her mother (not onscreen) never made a secret of the fact that DeWet is Mieke’s father, so the teen from the Cape has known about her other family all along,” says 23-year-old Reze-Tiana. And with the school holidays on the horizon, Mieke is planting roots in Hillside.
