The 1947 murder of Elizabeth Short in Hollywood sent shock-waves through the city. Not just for the violence involved (her body was cut in half), but for the fact that the manhunt resulted in 150 suspects and not one single arrest in the case known as The Black Dahlia Murder. But behind that tragedy, another story unfolded as a teenager searched for her biological family. And her grandfather – famed LA gynaecologist Dr George Hodel – was one of the Black Dahlia suspects.

Six-part 2019 miniseries I Am The Night is based on the 2008 autobiographical novel One Day She’ll Darken: The Mysterious Beginnings Of Fauna Hodel and explores Fauna’s quest for the truth, having grown up in smalltown Sparks, Nevada and thinking that her name was Pat and that she was biracial.
