Desperate times

Eunice is living the high life in Turfloop, but behind the scenes it’s a different – and sad – story.

Eunice (Oratile Maitisa) has been splashing loads of cash lately but there’s a problem: She’s borrowing money to pay back existing debts… and her creditors want their cash. “Graduating and not getting a job as quickly as she’d hoped set her back,” says Oratile. “Eunice was never someone pressured easily into doing things that she’d regret later, but this time she’s in over her head.” Eunice has a job at the hospital but that’s raised another issue. “It emanates from the need of trying to fit in while standing out at the same time. She sees colleagues around her buy cars, change their hair and so forth. Not knowing that it probably took them a while to get where they are now, she also feels the need to switch up like everyone else,” explains Oratile.
