She has an Academy Award and was the first actress to earn $20 million for a movie, but Julia Roberts has hardly had a leading role in almost a decade. Now that she's back in the Starz Watergate drama Gaslit — and with the rom-com Ticket to Paradise on its way — the 54-year-old is finally opening up about why she took a step back from Hollywood. “It wasn't by design so much as not finding something I was interested in,” the Pretty Woman star told the New York Times in a recent interview. “I was surprised at how quickly the years seemed to go by.”

Her bar for returning was high: Good enough had to merit leaving her husband, cameraman
