Big business has long been a story staple on Y&R, but the recent flurry of acquisitions and takeovers not only all but requires a scorecard to keep track of who works where and who owns what, but isn’t creating enough drama to justify its screen time. To recap, Victor bought Ashland’s biz, Cyaxares, and renamed it Newman Media, not to be confused with Newman Enterprises, which is now known as Newman/ Locke. NE CEO Victoria sold ChancComm to Chancellor Industries, then bought it back, and also recently acquired Newman Media, quickly jettisoning Chloe and Chelsea’s fashion platform. There’s a whole lot of shaking going on, but to what end? None of these transactions carry even a fraction of the emotional heft of the show’s best corporate sagas, such as the various fights for Jabot. Soap fans crave soaps’ romance, escapism and family drama, and while business shenanigans have their place, their frontand-center storyline status is dragging Genoa City down.

Cute wink-wink moment on DAYS when Stephen Nichols’s Steve posed as a priest, he called himself Father Nichols.... Finally, a GH scene in which Kristina got to react to her half brother Dante dating her half sister Sam! Also, kudos to whoever came up with the brilliant bit of Luke’s ashes landing on Scotty.... Y&R’s art department did a great job with the design of Tessa’s album cover.
