How did Paltan happen? Tell us something about your role?
I met J.P Dutta sahab in 2009. I still remember that he said, “You know whenever I’m making a film, I’ll definitely call you for that.” And at that time, he was planning to make a war film, but you know, war films are not easy to make. Lots of permissions are required, lots of things are needed. So it took some time and finally, Paltan happened after nine years and I am glad that the conviction he had in me in 2009, I was able to deliver it in 2018. So Paltan is very special for me!
How was it working with J.P. Dutta and the whole team?
Working with J.P Dutta sahab and the whole team was phenomenal. I think he’s one of the most chilled out guys. He manages to somehow make the frames of his films look larger than life. The actors look fabulous but the soldiers are the real heroes. I was blown away when I saw the first frame. The way he shot it was amazing. I was totally sure by then that this was one of the directors I always wanted to work with. So all thanks to destiny that brought an actor to a director who really could show him the way he wanted to be seen on screen.
What kind of preparation did you have to undergo for the film?
