Liv Tyler: Out Of This World

The model mama talks Brad Pitt, kids and why she’s in no rush to wed.

Liv Tyler is making her return to the big screen in the space adventure Ad Astra. Not only does she slay as Eve McBride in the Oscar buzz-worthy flick, but she also gets to star opposite Brad Pitt, playing his wife. ‘It’s pretty exciting,’ says the 42-year-old. We hear you!

That this London-based model-turned actress is busy right now is quite the understatement. Liv has also just wrapped the third season of the raunchy TV series Harlots. But Liv hasn’t exactly planned things out this way. ‘It has to do with your life circumstances,’ she says. ‘Just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, something else happens.’

Given that she grew up with Aerosmith’s wild frontman Steven Tyler as her dad, and she’s mum to sons Milo, 14 (with British singer Royston Langdon), and Sailor, four, as well as daughter Lula, three, and stepson Grey, 12 (with fiancé Dave Gardner), organised chaos is a way of life for easygoing Liv! ‘I’m such an in-the-moment person,’ she says.

What can you tell us about your character Eve in Ad Astra?

I play the wife of Brad Pitt’s character Roy. Eve is seen on earth, mostly in memories and emotions, while Roy is out there somewhere in space on this very painful and unusual journey. Their connection is unspoken sometimes you just see in Roy’s eyes and know that he is thinking of her in some way.
