Rules For Religious Conversions, Inter-faith Marriages Issued

On December 15, the Rajasthan HC, hearing a case of alleged ‘love jihad’, issued severe guidelines for religious conversions and inter-faith marriages and guided that these will remain in force till the state government brings in a law to govern conversions.

The HC issued detailed 10-point guidelines and said that it was doing so “to check the problem of forced conversion of religion” while dismissing of a habeas corpus petition filed by one Chirag Singhvi, who had alleged that his sister Payal was forcibly converted to Islam to marry one Faiez Modi.
