The Clairvoyant Leader

Let's Talk Business

How do you look back at the professional journey that you have traversed thus far? Please share some of the enriching experiences that you have come across. I am extremely content with the career progression that I have achieved so far, and, each step has been an enriching experience in itself. I believe that I have been lucky to have served in companies across various sectors spanning B2B, FMCG, consumer services and now enterprise services. My latest and longest stint has been with Intelenet, which has truly been an overwhelming journey. Each day has been a value addition. I draw comfort from the fact that in my career, I could manage the transition from the profile of an account manager to being the HR Head of an organisation with a 55,000 strong workforce.

Within Intelenet, some of the enriching experiences that come to my mind include the first management buyout that happened in 2007. The change in management which brought about the need to embrace a new working culture and an environment, and, being able to take the entire organisation through it without any hiccups stands out as a noteworthy achievement. The Serco buyout in 2011 was an experience that was similarly enriching. Intelenet has always believed in enriching engagement and powering innovation through transformation in this fast-paced and everchanging ecosystem. It is essential to bring to the table the flexibility to adapt to the changing times.

How Can They Fire Her?

It is a common phenomenon in the corporate landscape to misinterpret the inability to respond to a query by a Manager as a serious lapse which at times leads to termination of his/her services. As a fallout, not only do they risk losing out a person with superior managerial skills, they also dampen the spirit of the juniors in her department, leading to sinking morale and reduced engagement.

Nurturing A Coaching Culture

Jerry, who worked as a manager in several restaurants in the US was very popular among the waiters in his restaurant. So much so that whenever he moved to a new job, the waiters would follow him there because they loved him for his positive and motivational attitude. When asked as to how he remained positive at all times, he replied, "Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from it. I always choose to learn from it."

An Aggrieved Woman?

The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition And Redressal) Act, 2013 has mandated that it is illegal to sexually harass women, working or otherwise, at the workplace. However, it certainly is strange that the law did not feel the need to include men, and, also did not clearly demarcate the boundaries of liability for the employer.
