Double rotor rake, trailed disc mower from Kubota

Smith Power Equipment has announced the introduction of the Kubota RA2072, a new double-rotor rake, as well as a range of trailed disc mowers, ideal for cutting any kind of crop.

The Kubota RA2072 double-rotor rake, due to be released in South Africa this year, is designed to group crops into swathes, enabling machines such as balers to pick up the crop. The RA2072 is an upgrade on the single-rotor counterparts already available locally. Erik Roelofs, international product manager at Smith Power Equipment, which distributes Kubota in South Africa, explains that the maximum working width of 7,2m is significantly greater than the 3,5m or 4,3m offered by the single-rotor rakes.

“A single-rotor rake can also be used to create big swathes by raking in both driving directions. Where this method is preferred, good driving skills are required to form constant swathes,” says Roelofs. “With a double-rotor rake such as the Kubota RA2072, constant swathing is easier, and the driver only needs to look at the total working width of the rake. Constant swathing reduces the risk of blockage of the following harvesting machine and contributes to a constant bale shape.”
