COLLABORATING FOR FUTURE

Construction methodologies are complex. With projects getting larger with an increasing gestation period, there's an increasing need to bring together the stakeholders involved for smooth completion. But there are challenges. In order to better understand, Construction Week along with Autodesk organised a virtual discussion, Future of Construction: A better way to build & collaborate, on March 11 from 4:00pm to 5:00pm.

The panellists comprised Srinivasa Rao Aravapalli, assistant VP, My Home Constructions; Yogesh Kajale, VP (engineering, planning & design), BG Shirke Construction; and Nikhil Bagalkotkar, head, tech sales AEC, APAC, Autodesk. The discussion was moderated by Jayashree Mendes, editor, Construction Week India.

Answering to the significance of industrialisation in the construction industry, Kajale said, "The industry has largely been governed by conventional methods, and industrialisation is yet to seep in. In our country, it would mean an integration of various equipment and machineries with the crew. In construction engineering, it would aim to explore possibilities of manufacturing away from the construction site. So, that kind of industrialisation and of convergence between manufacturing and construction has to take place."

ENGINEERING A SMARTER FUTURE: CONVERSATION WITH HIGHBAR TECHNOCRAT'S DIRECTOR & CEO, MANGESH WADAJE

How do you see the role of ERP in the Engineering, Construction & Operations (EC&O), Real Estate and Infrastructure sector today? For a long time, ERP was treated as an optional IT expense, but those days are over. In today's fast-paced environment, where costs are rising and project deadlines are tightening, ERP is no longer a support tool—it's the backbone of the organization. It connects every business function, gives leaders with real-time visibility and ensures decisions are based on facts, not assumptions. Without it, managing complex projects is nearly impossible.
