Red Original’s new range of rugged, waterproof bags are perfect for sailors. Made from recycled plastic bottles, the smart grey fabric is sturdy, and snagproof, and the welded zips keep your contents dry inside.

The process is interesting. It begins with rescuing used plastic bottles, which are broken down into pellets, melted and spun into a fibre, which is then woven into the fabric.

Waterproof Kit Bag

The kit bag comes in 40lt and 60lt sizes. I tend to use the 40lt bag for the beach, and dinghy sailing (it just about fits a buoyancy aid, towel, splashvest and wetsuit), and the 60lt bag for overnight trips to Maximus, the PBO Project Boat which, as readers will know, is not the driest environment!
