The WSL Is Not Staying the Same...

Craig Jarvis
Listen To The Winds Of Change

Lemoore, J-Bay, Keramas – these are in my opinion the biggest, and might I add greatest, changes that the mighty World Surf League has brought to surfing of late. While many people lament the passing of Cloudbreak and of Trestles, not enough are embracing the changes, and the quality of them all.

Let’s be succinct, let’s embrace brevity, and let’s dive in:

--  Trestles is not going to be missed that much from a webcast viewer’s point of view. The waves are usually small, glassy to onshore, and fail to bring any drama to the party. Webcast viewers want drama, and they want lots of it. Trestles consistently fail to deliver on this front. Also, the waves do not lend themselves to progress. While they might be ideal for countless air reverses, they do not produce extraordinary moves and surfers. It’s typical small-wave ripping all the way to the podium.
