Swift Is Indian Car Of The Year

The Maruti Suzuki Swift is the 14th car to earn itself the prestigious title of Indian Car of the Year 2019 while the 14th edition of the highest automotive award in India grows a swanky new category

FOURTEEN YEARS AFTER THE INDIAN Car of the Year (ICOTY) award was started, 2019 was a landmark. Not only did we, the jury of India’s most coveted, credible and prestigious automotive award, declare the ICOTY but also, for the first time ever, we gave the country its first ever Premium Car Award. And if you haven’t figured it out already from the images on these pages, the Indian Car of the Year 2019 is the Maruti Suzuki Swift while the first ever Premium Car Award by ICOTY has gone to the Volvo XC40. Two vehicles that have stood head and shoulders ahead of their respective rivals this year. Incidentally, this is the third time that the Swift has won the ICOTY, a record. Both announcements were made by Dr Raghupati Singhania, chairman and managing director, JK Tyre & Industries Ltd along with ICOTY chairman Yogendra Pratap.

Congratulating the winners, Dr Singhania said, “At JK Tyre, we believe that innovation and superior technology are the foundation for the future. This is the key reasons we have c
