Hear That? The Bentayga’s Trying To Tell You Something...

- Raunak Ajinkya

The Twin Within

We keep toeing the line of indecency but never really commit to it. This seemingly generalised, vague statement is something I’ve picked up over the years, and now that I’ve understood it, I see it unfold a lot more frequently than before.

The Bentley Bentayga is, to my eyes, a physical embodiment of that rather harsh understanding. Now, I’m not here to discuss whether that’s a good thing or bad, or whether it should be allowed to exist in the first place, but the fact of the matter is that the Bentayga is as indecent as it can get. It’s true that the world didn’t need it; but we didn’t need bacon and cheese on our fries, either...

The Bentayga might just be a part of a bigger plan to allow us to get accustomed to over-indulgence for all I care, but there’s no denying that I’m unequivocally in love with the Bentayga’s unabashedness, and that’s, for all intents and purposes, where this story starts.

What is the Bentayga, in the first place? It’s hilarious is what it is. No disrespect to Bentley, of course, but what did you expect the response to be when you put a W12 in something that’s probably being eyed by real estate brokers all around? What response did you hope to garner when your fullfat SUV popped and crackled on each hard downshift? And at what point did you think it would be possible to keep a straight face when a mansion outdragged an old Boxster off the line?

2025 KTM 390 ADVENTURE

What makes a perfect shot? It's a cocktail of many elements — the right settings, correct gear, and a great environment. But more often than not, the defining factor behind a killer image is a giant pair of cojones — belonging equally to rider and photographer. Naturally, a few loose screws help, too. Thankfully, and rather coincidentally, Manaal and I align on this philosophy. How else would he willingly hoist a 21-inch wheel right up to my wide-angle lens, trusting that neither of us will cross paths catastrophically? We do have enough screws in the right places to not swap positions... Well, at least, that's what we tell ourselves.
