Hyundai Finally Brings Out Its Brezza Challenger. Hang on, It’s Just a Preview
-
The compact SUV segment is a bit of a tricky one. People aren’t expecting Dakar-winning abilities, but they do want rough-road comfort since that’s what most of our roads need. And customers in this segment don’t want the usual bulk that proper SUVs carry around. Essentially, manufacturers have to come up with a full-size hatchback on stilts, and throw in the bells and whistles that buyers expect. And today, no one really does the bells-and-whistles bit better than Hyundai. For a number of years now, Maruti Suzuki has pretty much led the compact SUV segment with its excellent Vitara Brezza. And finally, Hyundai has now unveiled what will leave its competitors more than slightly worried — the new Venue compact SUV.
Funny choice of name, that; something more exciting would’ve been better. At any rate, we’re not running out of ‘when you’ jokes anytime soon. Perhaps they even left the name in as an intentional chink in the car’s armour because one look at it, and the name doesn’t matter anymore. Man, does it look good! The headlamp design is a less radical version of that layout seen in the Hyundai Kona. LED eyebrows sit above the actual headlamps, and while this design is tricky to get right, the Venue does a good job with it.

2025 KTM 390 ADVENTURE
What makes a perfect shot? It's a cocktail of many elements — the right settings, correct gear, and a great environment. But more often than not, the defining factor behind a killer image is a giant pair of cojones — belonging equally to rider and photographer. Naturally, a few loose screws help, too. Thankfully, and rather coincidentally, Manaal and I align on this philosophy. How else would he willingly hoist a 21-inch wheel right up to my wide-angle lens, trusting that neither of us will cross paths catastrophically? We do have enough screws in the right places to not swap positions... Well, at least, that's what we tell ourselves.
