Automatic Headlight On (AHO) is the new mandate by the government. We seek to shed some light on what it is.
ALL NEW MOTORCYCLES and scooters that roll into the market need to be equipped with AHO from 1 April 2017 onwards. As if the confusion about BS-III and BS-IV vehicles was not enough, many two-wheeler owners are now puzzled about the new rule concerning AHO. So let’s try to crack the code for the uninitiated.
What Is It?
Most two-wheeler manufacturers term AHO as the ‘All-time Headlight On’ or ‘Automatic Headlight On’ system. As the name suggests, new motorcycles and scooters sold and registered after 1 April 2017 need to have their headlights on at all times. Yes, even during the day. So there’ll be a whole bunch of well-meaning passers-by doing those magician-like hand-signals to remind you that the bike’s headlight is on.
