Porsche's Sports Wagon

Porsche has added a shooting brake version to the model line-up of the 2nd generation Panamera in an effort to broaden its appeal and we drove the car to gauge how this is different

Porsche's Sports Wagon

The Panamera has from day one not been a universally appreciated design. Some thought Porsche should not have made this car. They were perhaps the same people who were opposed to the Cayenne SUV and see how wrong they have been proved. To broaden its appeal, Porsche decided to add another body style to the Panamera and decided on the Sport Turismo, a cross between an estate and a shooting brake. The concept of hot station wagons is not new. Audi has an RS6 Avant while Ferrari’s GTC4 Lusso also has a similar body style. Mercedes does a lot of shooting brakes in addition to the estates that all the three German premium manufacturers do. Ever since its introduction I have heard people say that this is perhaps the best looking Panamera of all.

When on the drive of the Panamera’s range topping Turbo S e-hybrid I was offered a chance to drive the Sport Turismo as well, I jumped at the opportunity and got behind the wheel of the Turbo Sport Turismo.
