Creating Meaningful Design

Introduce us to the principles of ‘Conscious Design’.

AC: ‘Conscious Design’ defines the way we practice at Studio Lotus, emerging out of the value system that we all believe in and build on as a collective. These values guide our process and help us make appropriate and effective decisions as a practice. Some of the key dimensions of these values are:

We operate with a great sense of gratitude for having the opportunity to do the work we get to do.

Who we are as people brings the innovation and energy every day at work – hence, learning collectively and as individuals is a huge focus in the studio, which continuously shifts the way we work.

Fostering a collaborative culture that brings out the best in everyone extends beyond the internal team, by being very conscious of all the stakeholders we impact, which includes our clients, our client’s clients, the co-designers or consultants, executing partners and goes all the way down to the socioeconomic groups that will be impacted by our construction methods or the footprints of our projects.

We believe in facilitating and directing a process that enriches each and every one on the project journey, while allowing for the collective genius to emerge, pushing the limits of what the team and the project itself can achieve.

DEVELOPING A DISCOURSE

Documentary photographer Taha Ahmad believes his work has a greater purpose than merely being admired by a select audience for its esthetic value. It's when people are able to see the underside of society and understand the prevailing social injustice that the work tries to reveal that it is truly worthwhile.
