WHEN Ledbury joint-master David Redvers was at the Goffs yearling sales in 2014, he received a message that Carlow Farmers huntsman Aidan Moran was selling a horse “rumoured to be one of the best huntsman’s horses in Ireland”.

Not one, but three horses walked off the box and “I liked the other two, so I bought them” (both are still going strong), but Mad Max “pretty much bolted with me, so I handed him back”, says David.

Part of the deal was that Aidan and friends would have a day over the Ledbury’s famous Tweenhill hedges. David came off, stood in a ditch and “watched Mad Max sail over my head. I thought I’d better revisit this one!”
