The golden sandy beaches that surround Sri Lanka were long considered its main tourist attraction. From the time of its inception the tourist industry thrived and grew along the coast, nurtured by those tourists who came to enjoy the sun, sea, and sand.
Although Galle is a thriving modern town, it is steeped in history. The old town, situated within the sturdy walls of a Dutch fort, is very much part of the new town with its bustling harbor and busy marketplace.
Sri Lanka often looks at its closest neighbor India, for inspiration in fashion, and one style from that sub-continent which has stayed popular throughout the years is the Shalwar Kameez.
