India has got abundant talent and it is evident especially in the field of jewellery designing. Thanks to the strong foundation laid by several leading jewellery design institutes in the country, we are generating a new crop of designers, who take pleasure in celebrating the essence of Indian crafts and motifs underlined with a strong international appeal.
Aurelle by Leshna Shah is a relatively new brand that is immensely popular for its playful and organic gold and diamond collections that resonate with the aesthetics of today’s well-travelled women. California-based Lai Designs is an indie jewellery brand started by NIFT graduate Puja Bhargava Kamath, who creates jewellery that is influenced by mid-century modern and Bauhaus art movements. The minimalistic lines are juxtaposed with centuries’ old techniques like Bidri, meenakari, Himachali and Kutchhi art and more. Clearly, there is a cultural diffusion that blurs artistic boundaries.
