India is the largest producer of milk in the world, contributing 23% of global milk production. But far from being a volumetric paradise for milk, India’s dairy industry finds itself behind the eight ball, beset with a welter of challenges such as low milk productivity, poor milk quality, and inefficient supply chain management.
