The channel community is the lynch pin on which the broadcasting, production, media and entertainment industry thrives. Yet, they rarely get their due recognition. As Digital Studio celebrates its 8th anniversary, it marks this milestone by instituting the Digital Studio India Channel Awards 2016. Read more about it within this issue.
The other big story this issue is IBC 2016, which saw the participation of 55,796 attendees and over 1,800 exhibitors from 160 countries. There was no denying that it was a great show and has raised the bar for the next year’s event, which incidentally will be IBC’s 50th anniversary edition.
Interestingly, at the IBC 2016 Big Screen Experience, Dolby Laboratories featured High Dynamic Range projection, where it showcased its Dolby Atmos immersive audio. Filmmakers and production houses are realising that this is a great way to improve picture quality and enhance sound quality. Digital Studio takes a look at the immersive audio technology and how companies are trying to redefine the next generation of audio standards for entertainment.
Additionally, Jitan Harmeet Singh, cinematographer for the 24 TV series, tells us why he chose RED Digital cameras for shooting Season 2 of this popular series. We also caught up with Brad Falk, a renowned CG supervisor and founder of New CoTD, to understand how he helps companies create a common and easily distributed workflow for CG development for the creation of animated features, TV programs, gaming content, etc.
Another highlight is the preview of Broadcast India 2016, the national event in the creation, management and delivery of content where we give you a sneak peek into some products and solutions that will be showcased there.
