This Issue, for our cover feature, we travelled to Chandigarh, a city that offers a compelling lens through which to examine the interplay of architecture and urban living. It underscored the profound influence of the built environment, leading to a sobering insight into the architect’s pivotal yet often complex role in shaping urban landscapes. But it also brings to the fore, the telling gap between the ideals of architectural practice and the ground reality. In our cover feature, we sat down with architect Ashwani Duggal of Subash & Associates for a candid chat. Growing up in Chandigarh, with his father and his grandfather both being architects, architecture was almost pre-ordained for him. Ashwani is well-aware of his enviable lineage but he remains humble about it.In every Issue, we aim to bring our readers something unique. This time around, our focus landed on micro architecture – spaces that pack a substantial punch despite their minimal footprint. We’re looking at outstanding designs not just in homes, but also in clinics, bus stations, public toilets – all contributing to a budding micro revolution. As the name implies, we’re spotlighting the rising stars in design – those who will shape the aesthetic and functionality of our spaces and cities in the years to come.
