We are fortunate to have an abundance of well-designed public parks in the UAE. The importance of community parks cannot be underestimated, they encourage not just children but people of all ages to get outside and be active. Beyond the health and social benefits, parks and playgrounds also impact economic development in surroundings areas with cafes and shops setting up business to avail of the passing foot traffic. In short, parks are big business! Back in the region, we also feature a new public park in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Like most parks, Al Dar AlBaida Public Park is intended to bring communities together, a place to hold family gatherings, concerts and special events. It’s central location beside the train station in Riyadh makes it an easily accessible and convenient meeting place. Nut most importantly, the park design as you can learn more about on page 16 delivers that delicate balance of providing an entertainment spot within a natural environment filled with native species.
